IB World Schools Yearbook 2019

Asamiah International School (AIS) is an IB; co-educational, bilingual school offering children from KG to Grade 12 IB PYP Curriculum (KG and grades 1-5) as well as the DP for grades 11 and 12. The school is located in Khalda, and it is easily accessible to parents and visitors with state-of-the-art facilities. We emulate comfortably and proudly alongside the best IB schools in the country; this is reflected on our students’ outstanding characteristics and remarkable results. We are also proud of our alumni who receive prompt acceptance at the best universities worldwide.

AIS aims to develop inquiring, self-confident, independent, productive, respectful and caring lifelong learners who seek to make their societies a better place and who are willing to transfer their knowledge to community service and social development.

Our fully-equipped facilities include: Library ( Media Center) , ICT labs, science labs, D.T. workshop, kg indoor & outdoor play area, robotics & innovation studio, music & sound recording studio, drama room, art room, D.P. students' common room, sports facilities (indoor gym, basketball court, two football fields, and several playgrounds), cafeteria with healthy snacks, books & uniform store, and two first-aid centers.

At AIS, we aim to provide every learner with the finest education possible through vibrant and engaging teaching approaches that are deeply stemmed from the IB pedagogy and practices. Our learners are thus enabled and challenged to become independent learners who acquire their personal knowledge through the five approaches to learning (ATL skills): Communication, social, thinking, self-management and research skills.

The after-school activities are designed to complement the school programs and provide students with an opportunity to acquire extra-curricular skills. They include a wide variety of choices such as athletics, basketball, football, mixed martial arts, photography, robotics, gaming, design, dance classes, arts, individual & group music instrument lessons, languages in addition to our yearly enriching summer camps.

Throughout the school, we aim to ensure that our children enjoy a wide range of learning engagements and real-life experiences which allow them to transfer their curriculum to the real world and make learning engaging and fun.  Our staff works hard to ensure that the best possible quality of education is at the service of our dear learners.

Our children are, first and foremost, engaged in every day concept-based practices, morals and values that support character education and public speaking skills.  We link our cultural ethics with the heart of the IB Learner Profile to raise good citizens.

To complete our journey, AIS is an MYP candidate School seeking authorization. Preparing for MYP has enriched our conceptual-based curricula, teaching approaches and learning approaches making the learning process linked to life and globally – oriented. We teach in compliance with the 21st century demands, and what is more essential is that we instill cultural diversity and international-mindedness in our students’ mindset in order for them to learn how to embrace differences.

At AIS, we prepare children for the real world; thus, we make our learners ready to meet the future with confidence and to contribute positively to their local and global society. To put a closure to the IB journey, our DP students are encouraged to leave a tangible impact in their community by serving and taking action to create novel solutions for apparent local conflicts. The DP / CAS (creativity, activity, service) is set to align with the UN 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) to benchmark a better society; a better world.
